Agatex is a shirts manufacturing company, specialized in the design, production and distribution of High-quality men, women and kids shirts.
Agatex is proudly run by the third generation family entrepreneurs, who lead the company with an international mindset without losing sight on our historical roots and strong attachment to our local community.
Manages relationships with suppliers and customers, forging partnerships and collaborations around the world.
The company was founded in 1940 by Antonio Ghilardi to produce military supplies, today we are in the third generation that runs a reality with 84 years of experience or a wealth of knowledge available to all customers. The name is the result of the combination of the initials of the head of the family, the country of origin and the textile activity, namely "Antonio", "Ghilardi", "Albino" and "TEX".
After the war the company converted by starting to make civilian clothing, rapidly increasing its production capacity to the point of having to move to find more space. From the original factory in Albino the company was moved to Calcinate, over the course of its history the Agatex shirt factory could count up to 180 employees and the distribution of clothing items developed to reach the whole of Italy. In the 1960s the first exports abroad began and the beginning of various collaborations with what would become large-scale retail trade contributed to a constant increase in volumes which led, in 1982, to the construction of the new 15,000 square meter headquarters covered in which Agatex is able to manage the different phases of the creation and packaging of the shirts.
Partnerships and collaborations with world-famous fashion brands date back to the early 1990s, to which the company offers concrete stylistic, productive and also logistical support in consideration of the large volumes required. Over the years, the foundations have been laid for a very broad internationalization of both supply and customers, which still sees the company as a protagonist in the development and marketing of Italian shirts around the world.
Agatex strongly believes in the values that have characterized it since its foundation. In its production activity, the company maintains correctness and respect for the highest quality standards, in compliance with national and international rules, with important attention to work ethics and respect for the environment.
This approach has allowed Agatex to grow over the years and to now be a partner of leading international groups in the fashion sector. A particular added value lies in the choice and professionalism of its collaborators, a truly very important plus which over the years has also been recognized by the institutions, which have rewarded the loyalty of those who have provided their service to the company for over 40 years.
The international vocation of the company has never diminished the sense of belonging to the territory in which it was born and still operates and towards which it has always wanted to demonstrate its recognition with concrete social initiatives. In particular, in 1982 Agatex donated the premises of the old factory to the municipality of Calcinate: located in front of the hospital, the structure was converted into studio and two-room apartments to be used for the elderly people of the town.
In 2020, when the Covid pandemic brought the whole world to its knees and hit the province of Bergamo with great force, Agatex made a concrete commitment to the creation of masks for the benefit of the population with over 4 thousand pieces packaged in a very short time and donated to community. In a moment of extreme emergency, Agatex made materials and manufacturing skills available to the community with the sole objective of helping others in difficulty, acting in close contact with local authorities.
Agatex is inspired by the principle of "sustainable innovation", a philosophy that concretely translates into the traceability of the products we use and the continuous search for new eco-friendly materials. The fabrics that are selected with care and attention are mainly natural, such as cotton and linen, and are organic or recycled materials as well as those used to produce the accessories: the control of the "value chain", i.e. suppliers of fabrics and services that participate in the company's sustainability principles are central to every project.
A role of particular importance is played by the communication and sharing of working methodologies, the high specialization of the staff is a guarantee of quality with the carrying out of activities in a team which is combined with the possibility for the staff to move in a sustainable way leaving great green space that surrounds the company and characterizes the town of Calcinate. Thinking about the environment, Agatex offers a further tangible contribution having chosen to use a photovoltaic system in the production site as far back as 2010. At the end of 2013 the total production allowed a saving of 2,700 tons of Co2, the equivalent of planting 7,000 trees, to which over 500 are added every new year.
