The company was founded in 1940 by Antonio Ghilardi and supplied garments to the Italian Military. Since our very first days, Antonio and his town are embedded into the brand. The name AGATEX in fact, combines the initials of the householder, the town of origin and the textile activity, i.e. Antonio - Ghilardi - Albino - TEX.
In the post-war period, the company began its transformation and started producing civilian garments. The production rapidly increased due to a rise in demand and this forced the company to move from its original factory in Albino to a bigger facility in Calcinate, where it is currently located. At the end of the 50’s, Agatex shirt factory had 180 employees and distributed garments throughout Italy. In the 60's, the first exports to foreign countries set the beginning of the international expansion, while in the following decade it started partnering with many Large retail trading companies The constant increase in volumes led in 1982 to the construction of the new Calcinate headquarters, a 15,000 square meters, state of the art production facility.
The first Partnerships and collaborations with world-famous fashion brands date back to the early 90s, to which the company offered a concrete stylistic, productive and also logistic support in view of the large quantities required. During these years the foundations are laid for a very broad internationalization of the supply chain as well as of the distribution channels, making Agatex a protagonist in producing and marketing of Italian shirts.
Agatex strongly believes in the values that allowed it to stand out since its foundation. In its production activity the company maintains the accuracy and respect of the highest quality standards, in compliance with national and international rules, with an important consideration towards work ethics and respect for the environment.
This approach has allowed Agatex to grow over the years and to be trusted a partner of leading international groups in the fashion industry. Agatex draws inspiration from the principle of sustainable innovation, which translates concretely into the traceability of the products we use and the continuous search for new eco-friendly materials. The fabrics that are selected with care and attention are mainly natural, in particular cotton and linen. These materials are organic or recycled, like the ones used to produce the accessories.
Agatex made a further tangible contribution to the environment by choosing to use a photovoltaic system at the production site to exploit a clean, renewable energy source that allows annual savings of 200,000 tonnes of Co2, comparable to planting 20,000 trees.
